A control system is used to regulate inflow to a tank by monitoring water level and comparing it to a "set point" or target. The variance from the target (error) is used by the controller to calculate a desired pumped inflow, which is needed to reduce the error. In this model, you can select from 3 types of control systems: On/Off, Proportional, and PID.
This model was built for a webinar that gives you an introduction to control systems. You can watch a recording of this presentation, found in our webinar archive.
The model uses a dashboard to help you play with the different types of controllers along with the facility characteristics to visualize their impact.
If you are interested in using 1 of these control systems in your model, feel free to copy the container from the model that uses the type you want. When you paste it into your model, you will just need to connect the new controller inputs to your model variables.
