This static model calculates water flows and TDS concentrations in a hypothetical process plant used to extract bitumen from oil sands. The model uses internal optimization (see submodel) to calculate the re-circulation fraction needed to maintain an upper limit of TDS concentration before sending it to the boiler feed water in preparation for steam generation. Also, freshwater makeup inflow is implicitly solved for in order to obtain the desired amount of injected steam flow. The flow in the model is all driven by a desired oil production rate with an assumed steam to oil ratio.
