Snow Accumulation and Melt Modeling (June 2023)

This webinar demonstrates the use of a new and improved GoldSim version of the SNOW-17 model, which was originally developed by the U.S. National Weather Service River Forecast System. The functionality was translated to a GoldSim model. During this webinar, I will demonstrate how you can plug this into an existing model that needs snowmelt rates as an input.

The mechanics of the snowmelt model are also briefly described.

Below is a screen capture of the GoldSim implementation of Snow-17 including a time history result showing the accumulation and melting process of the snowpack (snow water equivalent - SWE).

Below is a screen capture of Snow-17 being used within a larger model to simulate watershed runoff from randomized precipitation and temperature.

Below is a tornado sensitivity chart produced during GoldSim's Sensitivity Analysis feature.
