Fracking Water Balance Model (August 2017)

This webinar demonstrates a hydraulic fracturing (fracking) water balance model built in GoldSim, following similar logic used in a published spreadsheet. The model incorporates individual components and activities of the system including water acquisition, chemical mixing, well injection, produced water handling, and wastewater disposal and reuse. Transportation and storage of water is included along with flowback and production. Scenarios are used to evaluate energy usage and emissions based on variations in the process.
