This model compares the behavior of Pipes, Aquifers and Cells for simulating one-dimensional advective-dispersive transport. The models is set up using three different species. One does not interact with either matrix or suspended solids; one interacts only with matrix; and one interacts with both matrix and suspended solids.
The Aquifer does not simulate matrix diffusion. The Cells, however, do, by creating a network of diffusive Cells next to the advective Cells (20 advective Cells and 60 diffusive Cells). So this provides two alternative ways for simulating matrix diffusion: Pipes (Laplace transform solution) and Cells. As can be seen, the results are very similar.
