Problem:
Upon running the GoldSim or GLSActUtil program after installation, you get the following error message:
System error: The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.
Under some circumstances GoldSim skips the installation of the Visual Studio 2015 (Update 3) components. It is not clear why this occurs. It is possible that some other software was installed, then uninstalled on the your computer, and may have left it in such a state.
Solution:
You should download and install the appropriate runtime components. Here is the link to Microsoft’s website, explaining how to do this: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52685
Pick the required language and click on Download:
In the next screen customer must pick vc_redist.x86.exe regardless of the computer’s architecture (32-bit or 64-bit). GoldSim is a native 32-bit application and always requires 32-bit redistributable components.
The final step is to run the executable using a user account with administrative privileges (Run as Administrator).
Subsequently, there should be an entry in Add/Remove Programs for the installed runtime components. If the installation fails, try to locate an existing entry and uninstall the redistributables first. Then run the downloaded installer again.
This should resolve the issue. If you are able to connect to this site and still get the same error when attempting activation, please contact us.
