Using text in the Data Definition of an element

I'm exporting 61 results from a Time History element to excel, which will then be imported to a cloud database.  For the receiving database format I have to have these 61 elements and in a particular order.  Some of these elements I'd like to be text.  Is this possible in GoldSim? 

For some of the results I can use a numeric code to tie back to the text I want to eventually use.  For other results it would be nice to insert "NA" in GoldSim to avoid confusion of using zeros (is it zero at that time or was there no data?). Also, I'm using reporting periods so using something like -999 for NA messes it up unless I specify each output as "all points" instead of "cumulative". 

I can make it work but just wondering if you have other ideas. Thanks!

  GoldSim elements do not output strings (only values or Booleans).  Can you use a very small number (that is effectively 0), such as 0.00000001, 0.0000002, etc. and tie those to text?

  That's a good idea. I can differentiate between 0 and another number and the monthly sum should remain close to zero.  Thanks, Rick!
