What do you mean that you need to read the initial water level?  Into what?  Do you mean it is the initial value for a Reservoir or Pool?  And what do you mean by "is there a list of things we can call in a function"?  Any of the Run Properties can be referenced in an Expression: https://help.goldsim.com/#!Modules/5/understandingandreferencingrunproperties.htm

Thanks for the reply. I have many years of data, and if I want to run the model for a specific 6 month period, for example, I want the initial water level in the pool unit to be taken from the time series of water level. Does that make it clearer?

My question about things we can call, I mean specific commands that can be called, ie “ETime” or “DateTime”. A list of all of these commands would be useful.

The link you provided looks like it could have the info, but where do I find "run properties", this doesn't appear in the model tree ont he side of GoldSim.
