Export standard deviations for a time history result

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks for posting in the forum. I need some clarification on what you mean by the standard deviation in this case. Are you talking about the standard deviation of a single output, within a single realization? If this is the case, then the standard deviation would be calculated at the end of the simulation and not during. In this case, we would then only want to export the value at the end and this would not be the same as exporting a time history of all values computed over time.

Alternatively, if you are talking about the standard deviation between realizations, then that is not something our Time History result element will provide. Can you explain how you are seeing the standard deviation in a table view of the time history? I think perhaps I am misunderstanding something here.

    Thanks for your patience,

    Jason

    Jason,

I apologize for not making my question clearer. When I examine a Time History Result for a multi-realization simulation, I can obtain (in the Chart tab) the mean, S.D. (standard deviation), and selected percentile values as shown below:

However, I cannot (to my knowledge) automatically export the above standard deviations (S.D.) to a file (although I can export selected percentile values as Custom Statistics), for example, using the export tab:

I could copy and paste the S.D.'s from the Time History Result Table tab shown above, but I would prefer to automatically export these same values, basically for QC purposes.

Please let me know if this question is still not clear, and I will try again.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hey Kevin,

My apologies that I totally forgot about the fact that if you check the box for "Mean" in the History Statistics section, the SD appears in the table.

I created a simple model that does this and found I am able to export SD to Excel. Are you okay switching to Excel instead of text file for just this purpose? You can keep all your other results going to text files.

There is not a way to get SD to text file.
